Unwanted

"Years ago, when I read 'Bilal,' the beautiful book by Fabrizio Gatti that tells the 'journey' of migrants from Africa to Italy, I thought it would be nice to turn it into a film. I dreamed of casting those extraordinary characters found throughout Africa. So, you can imagine how happy I was when INDIANA proposed that I handle the casting for a SKY TV series inspired by Gatti's book (with a beautiful screenplay by Stefano Bises). When it's destiny, it's destiny! It was an exciting job, even though, given the times, my research around Africa was only virtual. Together with my assistant Francesca della Rocca and with the help of Gianni Laricchiuta and Emanuela Marroni, we reviewed an infinite number of self-tapes from all over the world."

The filming is almost complete. It has been an enormous productive effort. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to its realization, from the director Oliver Hirschbiegel to the producer Ferdinando Bonifazi, to all the producers at INDIANA and PANTALEON, to the crew, and to all the fantastic actors from Senegal, Nigeria, Congo, North Africa, France, England, Germany, and of course, Italy.
